Elementary Education Plan
The Elementary Education Plan is designed for Liberal Studies majors who plan to enter a multiple subject teaching credential program and pursue a career in teaching at the elementary or middle school levels. There are two sets of courses that students take: Liberal Studies core courses and pre-professional courses. The Liberal Studies core courses, which are taught by Liberal Studies faculty, provide students with well-rounded and interdisciplinary education in the three knowledge areas of Liberal Studies, arts & humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, from antiquity to the present era. The pre-professional courses enhance this education for teaching at the elementary and middle school levels with regard to acquiring knowledge and passing the California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET). These courses are taken from CSUF departments other than Liberal Studies (Art, English, Mathematics, Biology, Anthropology, Sociology, etc).
